S.E. British Columbia Fly Fishing Guides

The Rivers and Streams of S.E. British Columbia are some of the best Fly fishing waters in Western North America, and until 10 years ago remained undiscovered. Despite recent attention to the area, compared to other Fly fishing destinations the East Kootenays still remains very much un-crowded and anglers have a variety of different waters to choose from, ranging from tiny Walk & Wade creeks to numerous floatable rivers, plus trophy Lakes.

The species of Trout and Char that are found in The Kootenays is as varied as the waters which they are found. Wild populations of West slope Cutthroat Trout, Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout and Eastern Brook Trout await The Angler. The two native species that our flowing waters are, the West slope Cutthroat Trout and the Bull Trout, which is a member of the Char Family. The Cutthroats are renown for the tendency to feed on the surface and the Bull Trout are renown for their tendency to eat Cutthroats and Streamers.

In 1992, Bow River guide David Brown expanded his guiding operation to provide an outfitting service on this classically beautiful and unknown trout stream in south eastern British Columbia. Since then, visitors from near and far have marvelled at the angling experience that they have shared with David and his guides on the Elk River and its tributaries.
